Effluent and Water Management Compliance
Wastewater characterisation, treatment design and zero liquid discharge compliance roadmaps
Effluent and Water
Management Compliance
For water intensive industry the effluent stream is at once a discharge liability, a rising operating cost and increasingly a regulatory line that can stop production, as zero liquid discharge mandates spread across water stressed regions. Managing it well begins with characterisation, because treatment that is not matched to the actual contaminant profile will either fail its consent limits or overspend on capacity that is never needed. Our team audits your process water and effluent streams, reviews or designs the effluent and sewage treatment trains against the contaminants they must actually remove and builds recovery and recycle strategies that move your site up the zero liquid discharge pathway and turn treated water back into a resource rather than a cost. The work is anchored in the CPCB discharge norms and your consent obligations, the NPDES and BREF best available technique benchmarks and the documentation that keeps your consent to operate defensible.

Our implementation model
A practical, phased delivery approach that runs from gap assessment through operational embedding and is built around your regulatory context.
Build effluent source inventory, process water, cooling tower blowdown, boiler blowdown, stormwater, sanitary, characterise per source (flow, pH, BOD / COD, TSS, oil & grease, heavy metals, specific pollutants per CWA 304 / EU WFD).
Design treatment train per influent characterisation and discharge limits, primary (screening, equalisation, oil / water separator API), secondary (biological, activated sludge, MBR, MBBR), tertiary (filtration, UV, ozone, AOP), align with EPA / EU BAT.
Prepare permit application per CWA NPDES (US) or EU WFD discharge consent, characterisation data, treatment system design, monitoring plan, contingency response, align with EPA effluent guidelines per industrial category (40 CFR 401 471).
Design online monitoring per Cl.NPDES Title 40, pH, conductivity, flow, BOD / COD continuous or grab sampling, specify monthly Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) per EPA / quarterly EU WFD reporting, align with QA/QC requirements.
Design zero liquid discharge (ZLD) or water reuse strategy per corporate sustainability, RO concentrate management, evaporator / crystalliser, beneficial reuse (cooling tower makeup, irrigation, industrial process), align with corporate water stewardship.
Design stormwater management per EPA NPDES MSGP / EU WFD, first flush capture, oil / water separator, sediment basin, infiltration, design spill containment per SPCC / Seveso (EU), align with API RP 2003 (grounding) and EPA RMP.
