Stakeholder Outreach (RBPS Element 5)
Communication with your community, regulators and value chain on hazard and response
Stakeholder Outreach (RBPS
Element 5)
Stakeholder Outreach is the communication discipline that keeps neighbouring communities, regulators, customers, suppliers and the wider value chain informed about the hazards your site carries, the controls you have in place and the response capability you can call on. Done well it means that when a credible worst case event does occur the response is coordinated and public trust still holds. Outreach is codified in EPA RMP 40 CFR 68 Subpart H, in MSIHC Rule 14 off site emergency planning, in COMAH Regulation 14 and in the stakeholder engagement requirements of the IFC Performance Standards. The pattern that fails is one way communication, the annual flyer drop with no real dialogue, and it collapses the instant a live event exposes the gap between paper assurance and operational reality. Our team builds outreach that holds up under that pressure.

How the study is executed
A structured, facilitated process that runs from scope definition through close out and produces defensible, actionable outputs.
We identify your stakeholders to AA1000SES across the community such as the local emergency planning committee, neighbouring residents, schools and hospitals, as well as regulators, customers, suppliers, NGOs, media, shareholders and employees.
We design a dialogue programme that includes a community advisory panel, quarterly meetings with regulators, technical briefings for customers, ESG audits of suppliers and an annual public disclosure.
We develop holding statements, designate a spokesperson, set a media protocol, plan a social media response and an employee cascade, and align it all with your crisis management framework.
We coordinate with the district authority and the local emergency planning committee on the off site emergency plan to MSIHC Rule 14, EPA RMP Subpart H and COMAH Reg.14, including joint drill participation.
We author the annual public disclosure covering a hazard summary, response capability, environmental performance and ESG metrics, aligned with EPA RMP, TNFD, the IFC Performance Standards and CSRD expectations.
We survey stakeholder perception each year, measure how quickly inquiries are answered and feed the findings back into refinement of the programme.
