Fire Protection Engineering

We engineer the active and passive fire protection that keeps your facility defended, from firewater networks and hydrant systems through sprinkler, foam and gas suppression to fire and explosion protection design, so that every credible fire on your site is contained quickly and your people and assets stay safe.

Strategic context

Why fire protection engineering matters

Fire and Safety is fire engineering carried end to end, from fire risk assessment through firewater hydraulics, suppression and detection design, egress modelling and emergency response integration. Our team operates to NFPA 30, 13, 11, 16 and 2001, NBC 2016 Part 4 for India, TAC India, BS 9999 for the UK, the FM Global Data Sheets for HPR qualification and the OISD STD 117 framework that governs petroleum sector fire protection in India. Our outputs are defensible to the AHJ, the underwriter and corporate insurance review.

Fire Protection Engineering
Engagement model

How we deliver

A phased, evidence led delivery model that runs from discovery through close out and is built around your facility, regulatory context, and lifecycle stage.

Fire Risk Assessment
We build the hazard inventory, map the ignition sources, develop a scenario set linked to your FERA and QRA outputs and characterise the fire load per BS 7974 and NFPA 550.
Active and Passive Protection Design
We design sprinkler, foam and gas suppression per NFPA 13, 11, 16 and 2001, passive fire protection per API 2218, UL 1709 and ASTM E119 and the firewater network per NFPA 24, 20 and 22.
Detection and Egress
We carry out fire and gas mapping per ISA TR84.00.07 with detector coverage modelling and run egress and smoke simulation through Pathfinder and EVACNET against NFPA 101 and NBC 2016 capacity.
Commissioning and ITM Programme
We set up the NFPA 25 inspection, testing and maintenance protocol, run the FM Global walk down, prepare AHJ submission packs for TAC India, NBC and OISD 117 and carry out commissioning flow tests.
Drill and ER Integration
We run the fire safety audit cycle, coordinate mutual aid, design mock drills with independent observers and maintain a post drill action register and ERP revalidation.

Frequently asked questions

What does fire protection engineering cover?

It is fire engineering carried end to end, from fire risk assessment through firewater hydraulics, suppression and detection design, egress modelling and emergency response integration. We engineer the active and passive protection that keeps your facility defended, covering firewater networks and hydrants, sprinkler, foam and gas suppression, fire and gas detection mapping and fire and explosion protection, so every credible fire on your site is contained quickly.

Which codes and standards do you design to?

We design to the NFPA suite covering 30, 2, 55, 13, 11, 16, 2001, 24, 20, 22 and 101, BS 9999 and PD 7974 for UK fire engineering, NBC 2016 Part 4, TAC India and OISD STD 117, and the FM Global Data Sheets for Highly Protected Risk qualification. Fire and gas mapping follows ISA TR84.00.07 and detection follows BS EN 54 and the relevant BIS standards. Our outputs are defensible to the authority having jurisdiction, the underwriter and corporate insurance review.

How do you validate firewater demand and egress?

We build a hydraulic model of the firewater network in Pipenet or AFT and calculate the demand against the credible worst case fire scenario linked to your FERA and QRA outputs, so the system is validated rather than assumed. For egress we run smoke and evacuation simulation through Pathfinder and EVACNET against NFPA 101 and NBC 2016 capacity, proving the design against available and required safe egress time.

What deliverables do you provide?

You receive a fire risk assessment, active and passive protection design, a hydraulically validated firewater network, fire and gas detection coverage mapping, egress and smoke modelling results, an NFPA 25 inspection, testing and maintenance protocol and authority submission packs for TAC India, NBC and OISD 117. Where FM Global HPR qualification applies we target the associated insurance premium savings.

Which sectors do you serve?

We serve refineries and petrochemicals, LNG, cryogenic and hydrogen, specialty chemicals and pharma, warehousing and logistics, power and data centres, and hospitals, hotels and public buildings. Our code fluency spans NFPA, BS, NBC and OISD in one engagement.
