- Sound level, dose and the exchange rate

Local exhaust ventilation design
- Capture velocity, hood design and the effect of distance
- Duct sizing, transport velocity and system balance
- Fan selection, air cleaning and discharge
- Common design failures that leave a system incapable of capture
Ventilation validation
- Commissioning tests and the benchmark record
- Thorough examination and test at statutory frequency
- Face velocity, static pressure and smoke or dust lamp testing
- Diagnosing a system that has degraded
Thermal stress
- Heat balance, WBGT and the predicted heat strain approach
- Work rest regimes and acclimatisation
- Cold stress and the assessment of cold work
- Thermal comfort against thermal stress, kept distinct
