Risk Based Process Safety Framework

All twenty elements, and where a management system actually fails

The CCPS Risk Based Process Safety framework organises process safety into twenty elements across four pillars. This course covers each element, what good looks like in practice, and how to run a gap assessment that produces a prioritised improvement plan rather than a scoring exercise.

This course sits alongside our Risk Based Process Safety consulting work, so what is taught is what we do.

Who should attend

Process safety managers and coordinators
HSE managers building or improving a management system
Plant managers accountable for process safety performance
Auditors assessing management system maturity

Course content

Every module is taught with worked examples and exercises drawn from real plant, and adapted to your own process where the course runs in house.

  • Running a gap assessment and turning it into a plan people will follow

What you receive

  • A twenty element gap assessment workbook
  • Maturity descriptors for each element
  • An improvement plan template with prioritisation logic
  • Assessment result and attendance record

What changes afterwards

  • The management system is assessed against defined maturity rather than opinion
  • Improvement effort goes to the elements that carry the most risk
  • Element owners understand what their element demands day to day
  • Audit findings connect to a framework rather than arriving as a list
